Job Description

Little Avalon Farm operates a fast growing e-commerce business, GoatCare.com, in a warehouse based out of Chewelah, WA. We service customers all over the country and earn their loyalty by giving them excellent results, every time. From biologicals and goat care tools to our flagship product, goat minerals, we average about 30 orders per day and 15k+ pounds of minerals packaged every month.

Members of the warehouse team will work together to ensure minerals are filled and stocked on the shelves, accurate inventory counts are maintained and orders are filled daily.

We promise same-day shipping and work hard to keep our customers–and employees!–happy.

Work in the warehouse can be monotonous, filling hundreds upon hundreds of pounds of dusty minerals each week, but if you like having a job where you know what to expect each day, you can enjoy settling in and checking off lists here. There’s a certain satisfaction in seeing all orders filled for the day and all shelves fully stocked.

Details:

  • Starting pay: $20/hr.
  • Location: Chewelah, WA
  • Schedule: Between the hours of 8a-3p.
  • Hours per week: 30 +/-

Requirements

  • strict attention to detail – our customers deserve an excellent experience 100% of the time and we currently expect an order error rate of about 1 in 100 orders or less
  • basic computer proficiency, including printing and troubleshooting printing on a Mac, working with spreadsheets and utilizing browser-based shipping and order management software to fulfill orders
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day as you process packages
  • while there is some flexibility in work times, orders must be picked, packed and shipped daily M-F at the order cutoff time of 10 a.m. with no exceptions – our customers count on us to supply their necessary consumable items promptly
  • ability to work harmoniously with others – there is a zero tolerance policy for infighting or drama and with 3-4 employees total, the ability to get along in close quarters is essential

Job Duties

Mineral & Herb Products Production

  • maintain minimum production levels to ensure orders can be filled same-day
  • print and affix product labels to bags
  • sit, bend and scoop repetitively
  • fill bags with powdered minerals or herbs, weighing for accuracy
  • heat seal filled bags and stock on shelf
  • maintain predetermined stocking levels, filling additional bags as needed to keep minimum numbers stocked
  • refill main storage barrels, lifting 25#-50# at a time and making sure no debris enter the barrels
  • sweep up work area, ensuring all floor surfaces remain clean and tidy and all spills are cleaned immediately
  • maintain accurate inventory counts of bulk minerals and herbs, and alert the admin team if stock is getting low
  • maintain Good Manufacturing Protocols (GMP) for pet food – keeping doors closed, mineral bins sealed, hands, hair and clothes clean and free from contaminants and no opened materials or spills left out. Our customers love their goats like children and expect pristine, perfect feed ingredients 100% of the time.

Shipping/Receiving

  • Use shipping software to print pick lists and packing slips
  • Fill orders according to packing slips, placing items ordered into boxes and preparing for shipment, checking and double checking orders for accuracy
  • Use shipping software to purchase shipping labels and verify accuracy once more before shipping
  • Alert admin team via Discord of shipping, warehouse or inventory issues/questions – all team communication is done via Discord
  • Deposit prepared packages near loading dock for shipping carriers to pick up, sorting by carrier
  • Receive freight using an electric pallet jack
  • Organize freight received, putting inventory in its correct place

General Warehouse Operations

  • spot sweep daily and sweep entire floor weekly
  • clean bathrooms weekly with provided supplies
  • remove, rinse and replace heater filters weekly
  • wipe down surfaces of barrels and shelves
  • keep shipping supplies organized and easily accessible
  • maintain awareness of cleanliness and safety at all times – pick up messes, put away boxes, leave nothing out of place by end of day – tidiness is critically important, try to think of keeping it “Instagram ready” all of the time.

Who We Are

Little Avalon Farm is owned and operated by Rob & Megan Kutchman of Addy, WA.  Megan was born and raised here and Rob has lived here for more than 20 years.  In their spare time–😅–Rob is a volunteer firefighter and EMT and Megan runs a Facebook group and website dedicated to teaching others about herbal goat care.  We have four children, a small farm and a BIG passion for helping others, both through direct outreach and in the small details that make working for or with us empowering, satisfying and fulfilling at a level that goes beyond just “getting a paycheck.”
