From my teacher’s eye view, I see the fear everywhere. It makes sense, we’re taught from birth to worship Fear.
I myself lived that as my entire process for many years. It stole so much from me, and I want to share with you a trick I learned to help me gain perspective.
Play out the worst case scenario between what your fear and intuition tell you.
Fear says: that goat has a runny nose, that means it’s likely going to DIE FROM PNEUMONIA. I need to reach out to someone to help me. I need a vet. I need a remedy.
Intuition says: the goat has a runny nose, but it is bright eyed, alert, breathing and eating well. It may just be a cold and I don’t need to act now.
Whenever my Fear raises its head and tries to thwart my Peace, I try to step back and really see the situation.
What happens if I observe a little longer? Based on the symptoms before me, the goat is not in a dire state. Do I need to act RIGHT NOW or is that Fear talking?
Following that onward, is there a low impact action I can take right now that won’t cause harm, distress or loss of dignity for my goat, but can help support it nonetheless?
In my herd, this would look like:
- Assess symptoms regularly, non-invasively, such as frequent observation which is where most of the answers lie in my experience
- Offer immune supporting herbs, most easily mixed into kelp and set out for free choice feeding because barring lifesaving intervention, I strongly avoid force dosing anything to my animals
- Ensuring feeders are filled with good hay and water is clean, warm if needed to encourage hydration without pressure
- Use a symptoms checklist if needed to help track daily (I have a printable in my $7/mo membership, one of many perks)
- If symptoms progress, THEN act, using solutions I’ve already identified and am comfortable using, which for me is a combination of herbs with oregano essential oil, in our example of pneumonia
I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be problem>reaction. It can be prevention>profit. I almost never treat a health issue now, after working to create a herd through careful selection that is innately resistant.
When I do, I lean on worst case scenarios to determine next steps.
My entire life changed when I learned to identify and work through my fear rather than let it call the shots. This is my mission, to help you break out too. It’s so much more peaceful on the other side, life circumstances notwithstanding.
